About LYSM

The International Research Laboratory LYSM “Ypatia Laboratory
for Mathematical Sciences” (IRL 2019) was created on the 10th of
December 2021 by the signature of an agreement between the CNRS
(Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) and the INdAM (Istituto
Nazionale di Alta Matematica).

LYSM‘s main tasks include building a dynamical network of scientific collaborations in mathematics between France and Italy, organizing mathematical events, especially in Rome where the laboratory is physically located, and welcoming researchers and professors from France appointed by CNRS as members of the LYSM.

LYSM organizes the monthly seminar LYSeMinar, the bi-annual colloquim ColloquiLYSM, the annual L³lecture (Giuseppe Luigi Lagrangia/Joseph Louis de Lagrange LYSMlecture) and several isolated conferences / workshops and public events. LYSM developps its research activities by being part of sevral Franco-Italian networks such as Philmathmed and MathEcoMed, and collaborates actively with the (brand new) CNRS International Research Network Logic and its interactions.

By three calls per year LYSM funds missions for active ongoing collaborations between at least one person working in France and at least one person working in Italy, and co-funds conferences and workshops endowed with a French-Italian touch all around Italy and France. Among these, those involving young researchers (PhD students, postdoc, maîtresses et maı̂tres de conférences, chargé(e)s de recherches, ricercatori, ricercatrici, . . . ) are given priority and all fields of mathematics are eligible.
